Not illustrated. 1919 Excerpt: ...when the investigations were of necessity brought to a sudden termination. In brief, ten calves, nine to ten months old, were cured. Four (4) were controls. On November 21, 1912, the remaining six (6) were given an intravenous injection of 880 millions bovine bacilli of 70th. passage on bile-glycerine potato culture, and immediately placed in a stable behind five (5) adult tuberculous cows for constant natural exposure. One year later, three (3) of the vaccinated calves received a second vaccination of the 89th. passage culture, and two (2) years after the first injections were given a third similar vaccination of the 113th. passage culture. On October 1, 1915, when the experiment came to a close, post-mortem examination revealed three (3) of the four (4) controls were generalized tubercular subjects as well as two (2) of the three (3) animals given but a single vaccination. However, the remaining single vaccinated calf, also those given three (3) vaccinations, remained free from the disease. The last few years have not brought forth very much in the way of new methods or more favorable results regarding immunization against tuberculosis. While the numerous ingenious attempts and well directed researches have failed to develop permanent or absolute immunity against tuberculosis, the efforts and endeavors have been well worth while and have apparently established some basic and fundamental principles which will serve as guiding lights for future generations in the pursuit of the solution of this most important and much sought for problem. The outstanding findings and salient features that have been brought out may be summarized as follows: 1.
